Featured Piper: Jerry Cashion

Jerry CashionJerry Cashion is a former pipe sergeant of the original Air Force Bagpipe Band, as well as Whitehouse bagpiper for J.F. Kennedy. Jerry was also the pipe major for the Adirondack Pipes & Drums and the Galloway Gaelic Pipe Band, and has played for numerous weddings, funerals and ceromonies.

Jerry has been playing the pipes over forty years. In 1960 he joined the United States Air Force Pipe Band in Washington, D.C. and toured the world, representing the United States. In 1961 he was chosen to be a Whitehouse piper for John F. Kennedy, and in 1963 I played with the Air Force Pipe Band at the President’s graveside. Upon leaving the military, Jerry returned to Glens Falls, NY, where he taught English for thirty years. During this time, Jerry was the Pipe Major of the Adirondack Pipes & Drums of Glens Falls, as well as the Galloway Pipe Band.

Air Force Band Eastern NY and Vermont

Currently Jerry perform at weddings, funerals, gatherings and ceremonies throughout Eastern NY and Vermont. Jerry have several uniforms, including a French & Indian War reproduction of the famed 42nd Black Watch.

In addition Jerry give talks on the role of the highlanders during the French & Indian and Revolutionary Wars.
