Bagpiping has been my love and hobby over the years, rooted in my Scottish heritage and my involvement with Clan Keith U.

Bagpiper in Georgia - I am Pipe Major of the Atholl Highlanders Pipes & Drums (USA) and have piped at the August 5 2000 gathering of 9000 pipers in Edinburgh, Scotland.

This band is currently rebuilding itself, their aim is to be able to compete next season in RSPBA competitions in grade 4b.

In 1972 a group of Boghall residents including Bob Austin (the band’s first president), James Galloway (the local butchery manager) and Minnie Waddell met to discuss the possibilities of forming a local pipe band.

Coila Ceilidh Band has developed into one of the leading traditional groups in Scotland and is in constant demand at home and abroad.

Grading It also serves as the only grading organisation for pipers, with competitions such as The Northern Meeting and The Argyllshire Gathering using CPA grades as their criteria for entry requirement.

On September 18th 1965, Dunoon’s local paper featured a letter from a Mr John McDonald inviting people interested in setting up a competing band in the town to contact him.

Aberdeen City Police Pipe Band was formed in 1907. Since then, the Band has had a long and proud tradition of playing at events and competitions throughout Scotland and has become a particular favourite with the people of the North-East of Scotland.

The Band wears the Ancient Leslie tartan, as displayed in the background of this page, in recognition of the lands once held by the Leslie family to the NW of Bennachie around Leslie Castle, Leslie and Old Leslie villages.
